Initially developed as a nordic skiing trail system the Rose Creek Trails just west of the community Alder Flats is now an OHV hidden gem in the summer and are used for sledding/snow shoeing in the winter
With 56 km of trails there is endless exploration. The trails can be wet and slippery in the summer months. With mud holes, hillside ravines and natural features the Rose Creek Trails will test you.
Accessing the trails:
While there is no formal staging area the trails can be accessed heading west through the community of Alder Flats. Not long after the pavement becomes gravel, and you pass the County of Wetaskiwin sign. A few kilometres beyond this you will come to the Rose Creek Trails sign. The road into the parking lot area can be muddy and rutted.
The large parking lot/staging area is large and still has some outbuildings that at one time were: the nordic ski trails warming hut, pit toilets and trail map. They have since been run down and graffitied.
Please have yourself a proper Brazeau and Beyond adventure and be mindful of the surrounding environment and the residents who call this community home.
