Breton Loop | Motorcycling Brazeau and Beyond

The Breton loop is an eastern ride  leaving from Drayton Valley. It takes you through rolling hills, past farm lands, and back through the time on the homesteaders route west to rodeo communities  of WinfieldBuck Lake (Minniehik) and Alder Flats.

The Route

Distance: 162 km, 1 hr 53 minutes

Leaving Drayton Valley heading East on the Cowboy Trail (Hwy 22), go over the North Saskatchewan River Bridge and turn south on the Buck Creek Highway (RR 71), follow the highway to the community of Buck Creek, turn east on Hwy 616. Cross the Cowboy Trail (Hwy 22) and continue east on Hwy 616 to the community of Breton. At this point you can opt for the Pigeon Lake extension, below or turn south on Hwy 20 towards the community of Winfield. Turn west onto Hwy 13 to Buck Lake. Here you can stay on Hwy 13 or turn north on RR61 to Lakeshore Drive Buck Lake. Leave Buck Lake heading south on RR63, turn west back on the Hwy 13. Crossing Cowboy Trail (Hwy 22) to Alder Flats or turn north heading back to Drayton Valley via Hwy 22. 

Note: Hwy 616 has some uneven paved surfaces.

Buck Lake is located 33 min South of Drayton Valley. The closest access to amenities are in the communities of Buck Lake and Alder Flats.
